Kisha Vaughan, originally from Biloxi, Mississippi, and raised in Sacramento, California, has been a dynamic force in Seattle’s hip hop dance scene for over two decades. As Creative Director of Dope Girl Movement, she creates platforms to showcase the artistic essence of hip hop dance, celebrating its uniqueness while providing local hip hop dancers visibility and professional opportunities. Kisha also serves as a lululemon Ambassador. She has been the Creative Director and Choreographer for Emerald City Elite, Poison Poppies, and Garfield High School Puppettes. Her choreography has also been seen at various shows and competitions, including her original hip hop dance pieces at the 2023 & 2024 Bumbershoot Festivals, her self-produced hip hop dance show HOUSE PARTY at MOB Studios, singer Brittany Davis’ Tik Tok campaign and live performance at the Paramount Theatre, Monsters of Hip Hop, and World of Dance. Kisha’s career highlights include her tenure as an original member of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ Macklorettes backup dance crew, touring extensively across the U.S. and Canada. She has also danced with local dance crews Breaking Point Dance Company, In Effect Hip Hip, Purple Lemonade, and the Seattle Storm Hip Hop Squad. Kisha’s performances span across prestigious platforms including Showtime at the Apollo, Live at Conan O’Brien, MTV Awards, Billboard Awards, and Rolling Stone Magazine. She has also graced the stages of renowned festivals such as Sasquatch, We Day, Bumbershoot, Seattle Pride, Capitol Hill Block Party, and Folklife. As a teaching artist, Kisha has shared her expertise at Westlake Dance Center, Cornish College of the Arts, Turning Point Dance Centre, Arts Corps, Just Move, Coyote Central, Interagency Academy, lululemon’s 2024 dance class series, among others. She is currently a fitness coach at Rowdy Box and Inspire Seattle. To generate support and funds for her projects, Kisha also regularly hosts her signature event BOOTIES & BOTTLES, a joy-filled night of dancing, drinks, and fun.
